Industrial automation and robot arms
Delta / Parallel Robots
Delta robots connect a lightweight moving platform to a fixed structure through parallel linkages. They are used in tasks such as moving items between a conveyor and packaging positions.
How these robots work
Coordinated motors move the platform through the linkage geometry. Conveyor timing and the end effector affect successful picking.
How to compare the task
Evaluate completed placements at the required item mass and spacing. A short unloaded cycle cannot establish throughput on a populated conveyor.
Examples and applications
- Conveyor picking
- Food packaging handling
- Light item placement
Limits of this category
- Orientation and payload options depend on the model.
- Linkage geometry restricts the usable workspace.
What to check for the intended task
- Count correct placements on a moving belt
- Include gripping and release in cycle time
- Check reach at the work envelope edges
