Inspection and Maintenance Robots
Inspection robots carry measurement equipment to an asset. Cameras can document appearance; thermal, acoustic or other payloads answer different questions. A robot that reaches a pipe or panel has completed only the access portion of the inspection.
How these robots work
Spot's inspection material describes visual, thermal and acoustic workflows. An inspection record also needs the asset identity, measurement location and time. Repeatable positioning helps compare readings from successive visits.
Examples and applications
- Legged inspection platforms
- Tracked camera carriers
- Aerial inspection systems
What to check for the intended task
- Check whether the sensor can detect the defect of interest.
- Repeat a measurement at the same asset under recorded conditions.
- Test data loss, inaccessible viewpoints and return or retrieval procedures.
