Mobile and logistics robotics
Research Robots
Research robots provide hardware on which a team can test a stated hypothesis. Useful access includes sensor streams, actuator commands and experiment logs.
How these robots work
A research setup defines observations, actions and timing before the trial. Calibration and software versions affect whether another team can repeat the result.
How to compare the task
Choose a platform around the experiment's action space. A walking platform with restricted arm access may be unsuitable for a manipulation study.
Examples and applications
- Control experiments
- Perception research
- Hardware policy evaluation
Limits of this category
- Vendor updates can change the experiment conditions.
- A model's commercial status does not establish access to its low-level controls.
What to check for the intended task
- Record hardware and firmware versions
- Save resets and failed runs with successful runs
- Check that raw observations can be exported
